Andy Michael Zimmermann’s lyric and versatile tenor voice has earned him leading roles as well as frequent performances as a concert soloist. Equally comfortable in Musical Theatre as he is in opera, Andy recently joined the 1st Broadway National Tour of the Revival of Cats, the musical, where he understudied Gus the Theater Cat, Bustopher Jones and Old Deuteronomy. After the tour, he spent the Summer at Music Academy of the West, where he played Veasey in the west coast premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s opera, Cold Mountain.
“Her Prince Tamino was performed by the promising tenor Andy Zimmermann who has a lovely pianissimo; he created a believable modern day prince, searching for what is good, truthful, and right. A delightful twist was having Pamina secretly witnessing his viewing of her photo and deciding that she was the right one for him. He delivered a lovely "Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön". We of the audience were just as enchanted by his singing as he was over the photo.” -Voce di Meche
In 2018, Andy had been busy with two of his favorite roles; debuting Roméo in ARE Opera's Roméo et Juliette and revisiting Tamino as an Emerging Artist at St. Petersburg Opera in Florida. Other 2017 roles include the Miner/Chester Arthur in Utopia Opera’s May 2017 production of The Ballad of Baby Doe and Alferes in Opera Brittenica’s June 2017 production of Noli Me Tangere at the Strand Theater in Boston. Andy was also an apprentice for Sarasota Opera’s Winter season where he covered the 1st Commissier in Dialogue of the Carmelites, performed scenes and sang concert solos. He returned to Sarasota Opera in the Fall of 2017 and was a part of La Traviata and the world premiere of Rootabaga Country!
